Over the past couple of years, the P&C has been raising funds to expand and develop the school playground. The 60th anniversary fete in 2016 made a big contribution to those funds.
That project took an exciting step at the last P&C meeting, when the P&C committed up to $15,000 for a landscape architect to design a masterplan for the expansion of the playground into the bush area below the artificial turf. The design will involve a number of stages, and a planned budget of $400,000! The first stage has a tentative budget of approximately $200,000, with the work to continue over a number of years.
Although that’s a very large number, we are confident that with the support of the community, we will be able to make this exciting project a reality. It will make such a big difference to the students of JEPS, and give them a lot more space to play in (especially with the playground becoming increasingly more crowded!)
The P&C, together with the support of JEPS BASC and the school, will be working to start this project very soon. The first step will see the school build a new fence (to keep everyone safe from the cliff edge), and then some working bees will be organised to clear some of the land. The construction work is planned for 2018.
It will be thrilling to see such a big project getting started – and we look forward to keeping you updated along the way! Regular updates will be added to the website.
